Ruslana Lyzhychko in the Ukrainian World
A meeting was held in the assistance centre “Ukrainian World “ in Warsaw, between the singer Ruslana Lyzhychko and the Ukrainian community living in Poland. The meeting was organised by the Open Dialog Foundation together with Euromaidan Warsaw.
Ruslana Lyzhychko talked about her activities. Upon the outbreak of the EuroMaidan, the singer became actively engaged in support for Ukraine, informing the West about the need for help. Travelling in Europe, Ruslana encourages Ukrainian emigrants to take up some activities, organise manifestations or flash mobs. As she asserts – the activities of volunteers in Europe is a clear signal to the West.
From Eurovision to EuroMaidan
Ruslana supported Maidan as early as in November 2013. She quickly became one of the most readily identified faces. She does not restrict her activities to Kiev only, as lobbying for Ukraine in Europe too has become her mission. During the protests, she was not only Majdan’s voice. In addition to stage performances, she also became engaged in helping the activists who were beaten up by Berkut officers. She collected, amongst other things, evidence of human rights violations in Ukraine, which she also presented in Poland.
