Gazeta.pl’s account on the TVP Channel’s distortions of the truth on the ODF activities

TVP Channel, in its quest for the sensational, has gone so far that it met with criticism coming from the least expected side. Wojciech Mucha in "Gazeta Polska" referred to the revelations concerning the Open Dialog Foundation as “very serious fake news. The fake news described by Gazeta.pl is related to the permit granted to the ODF at the end of 2014.

According to Gazeta, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanded that ODF should immediately provide it with all resolutions adopted by its Board since 2013, and explained why the Foundation’s official FB profile contained information that promoted illegal actions. This applied to an article titled: “Let the state stop: let us deactivate the government!” by Bartosz Kramek, Head of the Foundation Board, which was posted by the ODF and contained a series of postulates and experiences from Euromaidan in the form of a peaceful civil protest. However, according to TVP, the paper was a provocation for a putsch.

However, public media decided to go one more step forward, and started to trace all links of the Foundation, its staff and sponsors (...). Yet, these quests have been eventually abandoned by TVP which preferred to go into more sensational news” - says Gazeta. The controversy was around the permit granted to the ODF in 2014 which authorised it to send bulletproof vests and helmets to Ukraine. At the same time, TVP Channel stated on its website that: “In 2014, the Open Dialog Foundation which called for overthrowing the Polish government and starting Euromaidan in Poland, obtained from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, a permit to trade in defensive weapons. This permit allowed for ‘trading in products designed for use by military or police forces”. An approval was issued by Piotr Pytel, the former head of the Military Counter-Intelligence, who was charged with collaboration with the Russian FSS”. TVP has gone so far in such allegations that even Wojciech Mucha, a right-wing journalist has lost his patience, calling their revelations very serious fake news and saying: „D***n, you’re going much too far”.
