After over two years of activity, the ODF closed down the Warsaw-based “Ukrainian World” centre. It was the first and biggest centre offering support to large numbers of Ukrainians arriving to Poland. From the beginning of its activity, the “Ukrainian World” helped over 30 000 people.

At around 18:45 on 10 September 2015, an explosion and fire broke out in the “Ukrainian World” centre at 63, Nowy Świat in Warsaw. Every day at 5:30 p.m., the Ukrainian World’s hall will resound with etudes, nocturnes and other works by Chopin performed by Polish and foreign musicians. The event is organised by the Smolna Association in cooperation with the Open Dialogue Foundation (ODF).

‘Stories without ending’, our exhibition which features the violence and rampant impunity in the North Caucasus have continued in ‘Ukrainian World since 26 May.

For over a month – from 21 May to 30 June, the exhibition ‘I’ll go back, my brothers are there’, dedicated to the wounded soldiers fighting in the east of Ukraine, will be open to visitors at ‘Ukrainian World’. The opening of the exhibition was held on 21 May 2015 at 6.00 PM.

On the invitation of the Open Dialogue Foundation and the Open Europe Group, two entrepreneurs from Ukraine visited Poland on 21-22 April. Yuriy Shatynskiy and Ihor Haras, the owners of the Chumak company, one of the leading manufacturers of high-class custom-made furniture.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, between 1:30-4:30 PM, the Ukrainian World centre (Warsaw, 63 Nowy Swiat Street) will host pro bono legal and civil consultations for refugees. Legal consultations will be provided by Ms. Alla Maievska.

On 26th March, the Ukrainian World centre hosted a concert by Svitlana Grigorjeva entitled Music of the Heart.

In the Ukrainian World centre, run by the Open Dialogue Foundation, a Military Post Office was opened, giving the opportunity to residents in Warsaw as well as Ukrainians living in the capital, to send letters to soldiers being treated in the Military Clinical Centre in Odessa.

“The Ukrainian World” in Warsaw held a meeting with a Ukrainian delegation of individuals responsible for lustration. The delegation included both representatives of the government and civil society.

On 6 March, 2015, American students from the Centre for European Studies of Jagiellonian University visited Ukrainian World.

The Maidan Library is a social initiative of the Dignity Revolution participants who established it in the Ukrainian House in January 2014. It soon became a major landmark on the Maidan map, a centre of debates and exchanges of ideas.

‘The strength of a human is not in his physical power but in morality. Life is a hard game, but it is easier to live with a smile on your face,’ Ukrainians living in Poland write in their letters addressed to Ukrainian soldiers undergoing medical treatment in an Odessa hospital.

A year after the outbreak of protests in Kiev, the Open Dialogue Foundation along with Euromaidan Warsaw summed up its aid activities, organised for Ukraine over the last year (November 2013 – November 2014).
