You can be a volunteers in Kiev
We are organising a long-term observation mission in Kiev. If you are a keen follower of developments in Ukraine and want to actively participate in supporting the protesters, if you speak Ukrainian or Russian (a prerequisite), and if you:
- have experience with running missions abroad,
- know the basics of law,
- know about first aid,
- can take photographs,
- know about content management in social media,
- have experience in journalism
We are looking for you!
During their work, our volunteers:
- Monitor human rights violations against participants of protests, especially members of the media, students and AutoMaidan activists through the following of court trials and interventions of Ukrainian law enforcement bodies and the judiciary.
- 2. Organising and coordinating short-term observation missions and promoting international support (including needs monitoring and distribution of funds and other contributions received during collection campaigns in Poland and also visits from European politicians, journalists, social activists and former democratic opposition activists from Communist times)
- Information activities promoting awareness of the European Union and international affairs, protesters’ rights, rules and techniques of peaceful social self-organisation, including workshops, ongoing distribution of informative materials, speeches and conversations on the above-mentioned subjects with speakers from the EU and Ukraine, supported by videoconferencing facilities and video materials.
- Cooperation with EuroMaidan SOS and EuroMaidan Medical Aid Service by supporting injured persons seeking first aid, recording and forwarding information about these individuals to their family members and lawyers.
Missions are organised weekly, each lasting 9-days. The first stage of the 3-month project shall run from January 17 to March 17, 2014. Depending on future developments in Ukraine, the project may be extended. We expect that a group of several Polish volunteers (min. 12 people) willbe permanently present on the ground in Kiev. Open Dialogue Foundation shall cover transport costs (Warsaw-Kiev), provide accommodation and sustenance.
