Central Asia – EU: human rights dialogue results
Over the first half-year of 2011 Association for Human Rights in Central Asia and “Open Dialog” Foundation have received an unprecedented number of communications on human rights violations from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. These messages contain the description of violations of the labour rights, extrajudicial reprisals and extrajudicial executions, forced child labour and corruption in all branches of power. The received information was referred to the European Union executive bodies.
Institutional aspects of the EU cooperation policy towards the governments of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan with regard to the development of the civil society were in the spotlight. In conjunction with this it became necessary to discuss the following issues:
–On the situation of independent trade unions in the oil industry of Mangistau province (Western Kazakhstan). The Report to be presented by trade union activists of OzenMunayGaz and Ersai Caspian Contractors (a member of the Italian ENI shareholding company),
–Improvement of financial instruments of foreign aid from the EU budget for 2014-2020 (Cooperation and Partnership Agreement, GSP, IBPP);
