Between 9 and 11 July 2012 representatives of the Kazakh civil society, free media and independent opposition parties along with the representatives of the Open Dialogue Foundation visited Rome for a series of meetings with local politics, media and organisations.
The visit was organised at the occasion of a hearing at the Special Committee on Human Rights of the Italian Senate dedicated to the situation of human rights in Kazakhstan, with a particular regard to the post-Zhanaozen events and trials that took place over the last few months, as well as the upcoming trials of the opposition leaders.
