Tomasz Czuwara of the Open Dialogue Foundation was talking in an interview for TVN24 Biznes i Świat about the causes of more intensive activity of Ukrainian forces in the east of the country.
“I think we can point to two facts. First, the new President has been elected with a very strong social mandate – winning in the first round – and hence the Ukrainians feel stronger as a nation and more determined to fight against the terrorists who are occupying their territory. The other fact is that Donetsk is an urban area with nearly two million people, a major industrial centre and thus there is more at stake.”
