According to estimates made by the Open Dialogue Foundation, as many as 250,000 Tatars may have fled the Crimea. Tatars from the Crimean peninsula are met with gestures of solidarity from local communities. Some of the families are surviving thanks to the contributions of local communities – they are sustained thanks to the support of entire villages.
Representatives of the Open Dialogue Foundation have analysed the locations which are ready to receive Tatar families, organised by the local partners of the foundation. As soon as March, five families (about 25 people) are to receive support, including accommodation, food, access to education for children and assistance in assimilation to their new conditions. The budget for the operation amounts to approximately 12,500 dollars a month.
