News portal Onet.pl reported a statement from the Ministry of Defence. Minister Siemoniak told TVN 24 that“there is no reason to stop bulletproof vests at the border.”The minister also admitted that these were non-lethal items, serving for protection and not for killing others.
In this context, the website mentioned ODF’s experience with shipping vests, earlier reported by Gazeta Wyborcza. It is possible that representatives of the foundation will face charges in relation to the semi-official shipment of bulletproof vests and helmets – meant for volunteers, journalists and soldiers – from Poland into Ukraine. Although these items are protective gear, under Polish law, they constitute strategic items and are subject to licencing.
