On the occasion of the visit paid by Senator John McCain to Kiev, we managed to exchange a few words with him and welcome him on behalf of the Open Dialogue Foundation in Ukraine. We provided the Senator with, amongst other things, reports on the case of the Ukrainian pilot N. Savchenko, illegally abducted and transported to the Russian Federation. McCain affirmed that he was familiar with her fate and promised to read the report in detail.
McCain has been supporting Ukraine since as early as December when he met opposition leaders. He is currently one of the advocates of increasing western help for Ukraine. Recently, he has called upon the administration of President Obama to provide the governmental forces in Ukraine with weapons.
