On Wednesday 8 October, the Ukraiński Świat assistance centre saw the departure of a lorry with aid for refugees and soldiers fighting in eastern Ukraine, purchased thanks to funds raised through the broneshylety.com action. Warm clothes, winter shoes, blankets and food – all the contents of the truck were collected came from the kind hearts of Warsaw citizens and local businesses.
– As a correspondent from the ATO zone I can see what the needs of the people are. Winter is coming, so both the refugees and the soldiers need warm clothing – says Agnieszka Paulina Góralska from the Open Dialogue Foundation, who joined the humanitarian aid convoy bound for Ukraine.
Travelling alongside her is Artur Deska – director of Caritas Drohobycz Volunteer Centre, who admits to being a little anxious, but driven by a call of duty nevertheless.
