To the surprise of most of the observers, Bulgarian justice made a U-Turn in favour of human rights and international justice and against pressure from Russia. Today court in Sofia dealt with Russian extradition request against the French/Russian activist Nikolay Koblyakov.
The prosecutor agreed with the line of defence and asked the court not to execute extradition, quoting reports from human rights defenders on the reality of justice system, prisons and unfair trials in Russia. It was a lound manifestation of rejection of the standards promoted by the Russian regime. The judges supported the claim and released Nikolay. More detailed report – soon.
