On Monday, 10 November 2014, the group of 23 Members of the European Parliament wrote the letter on the case of the so called European “Magnitsky list”. The list contains names of 32 Russian officials that should be subjected to the EU sanctions due to the involvement in the death of Sergei Magnitsky, Russian lawyer who was fighting with a corruption and died in the arrest in Moscow, in 2009.
The letter, with the reference to the adopted in April 2014 recommendations of the European Parliament to the Council of the EU, was addressed to Ms Federica Mogherini, the new High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
