Power generators are needed for war-torn Ukraine
The primary purpose of this mission was to deliver drones, food and aid to those in need. Power generators were also delivered to the frontline in Bakhmut. Additionally, one of these generators – funded by the municipality of Polkowice – was sent to Kharkiv. Piotr Borys MP, who with a group of volunteers and members from the Open Dialogue Foundation visited shelled Bakhmut and the nearby towns impacted by the war, spoke today about the humanitarian mission and the situation with the residents.
“Today, Bakhmut is the site of a war offensive on Russia’s part . More than 20 people took part in this aid mission. A total of nine buses arrived with humanitarian aid, including food and packages, but most importantly military equipment, drones for the army and power generators”, said Piotr Borys. “Unfortunately, after this great wave of solidarity, help is still needed there, mainly humanitarian aid and power generators, which is all that is needed to survive. In the city, people in basements and flats function without electricity, water or gas. They only heat themselves with wood from felled trees. It is appalling, ladies and gentlemen, we do not realise what an enormous disaster this is”.
“Such power generators are desperately needed”, adds Piotr Borys. “I would like to thank the three municipalities who were responsible for delivering the large and small power generators to those who need them most. The municipality of Polkowice, thanks to whom a large power generator was delivered to Kharkiv. The municipality of Ząbkowice Śląskie, who donated a similar power generator to the frontline in Bakhmut, which will also serve civilians, and the municipality of Wałbrzych, who donated a power generator to the children’s hospital in Kramatorsk, a town that is adjacent to Bakhmut and not yet covered by hostilities, but is often left with no electricity. Therefore, I fervently urge other municipalities to mainly help buy power generators, and the residents to continue collecting humanitarian aid, both of which we will deliver to Ukraine, especially to the frontline”, he appeals.
