Tomasz Maciejczuk of the Open Dialogue Foundation talked, for Newsweek Polska, about the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Donbas and his work as a volunteer in Eastern Ukraine.
As Maciejczuk describes it, life in certain districts of the ATO zone is expiring: ‘(…) banks, shops, offices are not working, there is even no electricity, heat, water. People are hiding all the time in basements, are barely surviving. Volunteers and the Ukrainian army are providing them with food but these people are doomed to exile anyway. Civilian life is not possible there anymore.’
