On the Kiev Maidan a manifestation took place on 20 February under the slogan of “Never again”. The people gathered there paid tribute to the memory of the victims of last year’s protests and pleaded for the ratification of the Rome Statute. The campaign was postulated by, inter alia, EuroMaidan SOS, theCentre for Civil Liberties and the Open Dialogue Foundation.
With the document ratified, investigations can be initiated immediately into the offences perpetrated by Yanukovych and his immediate associates in February 2014. In addition to holding those guilty of the EuroMaidan activists’ deaths accountable, the ratification will prevent such a dramatic scenario from happening again, noted Anastasia Chornogorska of the Open Dialogue Foundation.
