Isolation of the Crimean Peninsula, difficulties in providing people with basic goods, the situation of the marginalised Crimean Tatars and Moscow’s financial difficulties were discussed for the pdf.edu.pl portal by Tomasz Czuwara.
‘It is estimated that during phase one, immediately following the annexation of the Crimea, Russia spent more than 4.5 billion dollars. In order to revive the Peninsula’s economy shattered by the crisis, further estimates suggest that Moscow must spend a total of as much as 80 billion dollars. The Kremlin simply does not have these funds. The Ministry of Finance is already considering a shift of funds from projects in Siberia to help the peninsula,’ Czuwara said.
