At Ukrainian World, we were visited by Kalman Mizsei – head of the EU Advisory Mission for Civilian Security Sector Reform Ukraine. The visit took place with the support of Global Compact Network, Poland.
In Ukraine, there is still strong resistance to change, especially in the power structures. The idea of local government is still unclear, mainly in small localities. In Russia, in turn, people do not even understand what democracy is. Consequently, the contagious example of Ukraine and its potential success is so dangerous to the authoritarian power of Putin – Mizsei asserted.
Kalman Mizsei – economist and diplomat, head of the EU Advisory Mission for Civilian Security Sector Reform Ukraine (EUAM Ukraine), lecturer at the Central European University, former regional director of UNDP for Europe and countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and former special representative of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.
