“We neither organised nor inspired yesterday’s action. This act was not carried out by Poles, this is Ukrainian blood and emotions, which are completely legitimate,” said Bartosz Kramek, Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Open Dialogue Foundation, during a press briefing convened in front of the RF Embassy the day after the incident in which the Russian ambassador was doused with fake blood near the Mausoleum of Soviet Soldiers. Some Polish media have insinuated that ODF had some hand in the act.
The Russian Ambassador to Poland, Sergey Andreev, was doused with fake blood by protesters against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Despite this, pro-government circles blamed the incident on activists of the Open Dialogue Foundation or “Kramek’s circle”. The Foundation convened a press briefing at which, in addition to Bartosz Kramek, there were activists wearing volunteer waistcoats and bulletproof vests in a bid to draw public attention to the ODF’s support activities, as well as to appeal for the rescue of soldiers fighting in Mariupol. Coordinator Kajetan Wróblewski stressed the importance of supporting the relocation of refugees living in Poland, while Łukasz Krencik, responsible for the logistics of aid to the fighting Ukrainians, announced the launch of a collection of long-term food, hygiene and medical supplies to be sent to the most war-affected areas.
Meanwhile, “the responsibility for the incident lies with Sergei Andreev, who persistently sought to provoke this type of situation, and the Polish authorities, who failed to expel him from our country and ensure his safety. The Warsaw and Polish police are very experienced in securing assemblies, protecting widely disliked figures and monuments,” Bartosz Kramek said.
