08.06.2012, Warsaw. On the first day of the UEFA European Football Championship ‘Euro 2012’ Poland’s Ukrainians carried out a protest action ‘The European Championship in Ukraine – a feast during the plague”, marching through the Krakowskie Przedmieście street. The flash mob action was organised under the slogan: “Do not repeat the mistakes of 1936! Boycott Yanukovych’s regime”. In this way the activists tried to tie the opening of the European Championship 2012 with the inauguration of the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936, when the world community came to the sport event in the country where the Nazis came to power.
