“The former deputy head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration has once again been found guilty. This time for violating the personal rights of the Open Dialogue Foundation. The Law and Justice politician disagrees with the court’s ruling,” reports Polsat News.
In 2018, Wąsik accused the Foundation of having ties with Russia, money laundering and committing hybrid activities. The Foundation filed a lawsuit against the politician, which resulted in him losing at first instance in 2022.
Wąsik appealed, but the Court of Appeal in Warsaw upheld the judgement of the court of first instance. The former deputy minister is to pay PLN 10,000 with interest to the Open Dialogue Foundation, its founder and President Lyudmyla Kozlovska and the chair of the Foundation’s Supervisory Board Bartosz Kramek.
As reported by Interia, the statements that were the subject of the trial were featured on TVP Info, on Telewizja Republika and in Gazeta Polska, among others. Now an apology from Wąsik is to be published in these media.
The former deputy minister was interviewed by Interia journalists. Wąsik disagrees with the court judgment. He believes that he has not been convicted, as the decision was made in civil and defamation proceedings. He announced that he would file for cassation with the Supreme Court after receiving and familiarising himself with the reasoning for the decision.
