In early February 2025, our volunteer Grzegorz Madejski organised a charity concert at the Municipal Centre of Culture in Zambrów, featuring the folk band Czeremszyna from the Podlasie region. The event, held under our patronage, aimed to raise funds for the medical treatment of two Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers – Svyatoslav Boyko and Oleksandr Romensky – who were injured during a Russian shelling of their position.
Sergeant Svyatoslav Boyko serves in the Ukrainian 414th Separate Regiment of Strike Unmanned Aircraft Systems ‘Birds of Magyar’ – formerly operating under the reconnaissance group ‘Hornet’ – whom we have supported since the first year of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Svyat sustained a spinal injury and was unable to walk until recently; he now requires long-term, intensive rehabilitation.
Oleksandr, a war veteran and disabled serviceman who fought in the ranks of the 57th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, suffered a head injury. He experiences difficulties with mobility, vision, and speech, and is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
We are deeply grateful to all donors, the concert organisers, and the wonderful band Czeremszyna. The funds raised at the event – PLN 7,339 – were divided equally and recently transferred to both soldiers.
Guys responded immediately. Oleksandr wrote (translated from Ukrainian), ‘Thank you immensely! I’ve just started psychotherapy – the therapist is expensive but the sessions are very effective. The funds are a great help, as I am suffering from PTSD and I can’t cope without professional help. I’m also beginning physical rehabilitation and doing various exercises – your assistance is truly invaluable. Sending you all a big hug!’
A few days later, he sent us a video message expressing his gratitude for the support received. We received a similar recording from Svyatoslav, who is using the funds to support his spinal rehabilitation. Svyat not only believes that our cooperation will continue, but also that he will soon be able to return to defending his homeland.
There are thousands of soldiers who need help as they sacrificed their health defending not only Ukraine, but also Poland and all of Europe against the Russian invader. Should you wish to support those who have given so much, we invite you to donate to our fundraiser – so that we can continue to support them:
