The Open Dialogue Foundation has prepared an application for the enforcement of an apology that Maciej Wąsik should have made by March. The organisation is demanding a penalty of PLN 5,000 for each day of delay.
The Open Dialogue Foundation announced at the end of June that the enforcement bailiff had seized Maciej Wąsik’s accounts. As a result of the successful enforcement, the organisation obtained over PLN 41,000 in compensation for defamation and interest for non-execution of the final court judgement of February 2024. The PiS politician lost a case for infringement of personal rights and had to pay the Foundation, Lyudmyla Kozlovska and Bartosz Kramek PLN 30,000 in compensation. Interest amounted to PLN 11,000.
The case concerned the slanderous statements in which Wąsik accused the organisation of pro-Russian activities and money laundering and accused Kramek of publicly calling for bloodshed. The court also ordered the current Law and Justice MEP to publish an apology on TVP Info, Telewizja Republika and Telewizja wPolsce.pl.
The enforcement bailiff has withdrawn a large sum from Maciej Wąsik’s account. The amount has been transferred to the account of the Open Dialogue Foundation.
On Friday, 5 July, the Foundation announced that it had received compensation extracted from Wąsik by the enforcement bailiff. Funds in the amount of PLN 27,600 – after settlements with the law firm – were transferred to the organisation’s account. The Foundation also announced that it had prepared an application for the enforcement of an apology, which the PiS politician should have published by 8 March 2024.
The organisation announced that their attorney is requesting that an apology be published within three days of the court’s judgement becoming final, under penalty of a fine of PLN 5,000 for each day of delay. Marcin Mycielski, Vice-President of the Open Dialogue Foundation, emphasised that the amount would be calculated from 5 March. Currently, the amount would be PLN 610,000 and would continue to increase every day.
Money from PiS politician received. “We are not slowing down – we are taking them down for good.”
“We are not slowing down – we are taking them down for good. From the very beginning, we declared a determined fight for our rights. There are no untouchables here; we are consistent. The power has changed, we do not count on Wąsik’s honour, but responsibility still stands. We are only getting started,” commented Kramek.
