The civic initiative “Warmth from Poland for Kyiv” has raised its fundraising target to PLN 10 million and expanded its assistance to cover the whole of Ukraine. The Polish government has joined the effort, and Ukrainian authorities have appealed for support. The first shipment of 230 power generators will depart tomorrow.
WARSAW/WILKOWICE, 22 January 2026
The consortium of non-governmental organizations behind the “Warmth from Poland for Kyiv” fundraiser has increased its target to PLN 10 million, making it the largest aid campaign of this winter in Ukraine. This decision enables assistance to be extended to the entire country. Tomorrow, Friday at 10:00 a.m., the first transport of power generators will depart from Wilkowice.
To date, the organizers — Stand With Ukraine, the Democracy Foundation, Sestry.eu, the Open Dialogue Foundation, Euromaidan Warsaw, Entrepreneurs Help, and the Igor Tracz Foundation — have raised more than PLN 6 million, including funds transferred directly to bank accounts. The initiative is supported by over 40,000 Polish citizens. The originator of the campaign is Zbigniew Jankowski from The Diplomatic Platform.
The campaign is entering a decisive phase. In view of forecast temperatures dropping as low as –20°C and the destruction of critical infrastructure, the organizers are expanding the scope of assistance. They are supporting Polish volunteer groups that have been delivering humanitarian aid across Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s invasion in 2022.
Radosław Sikorski: “These people are living through hell”
Government structures have joined the initiative. The Government Agency for Strategic Reserves announced the dispatch of generators, while diplomatic support was declared by Poland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, who shared the fundraiser publicly. The campaign has also been endorsed by opposition politicians, including Michał Dworczyk, who announced a public donation to the cause.
Referring to the current situation, Sikorski described Russia’s actions bluntly:
“Deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure constitute a war crime. (…)”
The organizers stress that beyond its financial impact, the fundraiser has unleashed a powerful wave of human solidarity with Ukraine.
Sybiha: “Poland is a leader of solidarity”
The efforts of Polish citizens were acknowledged by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, who thanked donors for their support to date:
“In 2022, the world admired Poland (…). Today, Poland has once again become a leader in assistance, an example of solidarity and effective mobilization,”
Minister Sybiha said, calling on other countries to follow Poland’s example.
The success of the campaign is the result of cooperation across many sectors. Activists, media outlets, and business organizations have joined forces. United Nations Global Compact Network Poland and the Polish Red Cross have become partners of the initiative. Among the largest donors are Dominika Kulczyk together with Polenergia, Beata Drzazga, Employers of Poland (Pracodawcy RP), InPost, and the Polish Business Roundtable Foundation. The Entrepreneurs Help initiative brings together members of the Polish Business Roundtable, Corporate Connections, Employers of Poland, and BNI. Logistics are provided by InPost, Raben, and Cordis Logistics.
Dominika Kulczyk, Chair of the Supervisory Board of Polenergia, appealed to the entire energy sector to show solidarity:
“I believe that the Polish energy sector is capable of standing together when human lives are at stake. Every generator is a chance to keep a child warm, cook a meal, or get in touch with loved ones.”
“This has exceeded our wildest expectations. When I see this, I have tears in my eyes,” said Natalia Panchenko, President of the Stand With Ukraine Foundation. “Poland has just received an effective vaccine against Russian propaganda, disinformation, and apathy,” added Bartosz Kramek of the Open Dialogue Foundation. “Poland is standing strong thanks to its civil society, which has once again organized a nationwide mobilization, also engaging public authorities. Activists, media professionals, and entrepreneurs have set off an avalanche of support. We are proud to have moved so many hearts across the country,” added Jerzy Wójcik of Sestry.eu.
