A shipment of power generators worth nearly PLN 2 million set off today from Wilkowice to Kyiv. This is the result of a fundraiser organized by the Stand With Ukraine Foundation, which in a short time has grown into a large-scale aid campaign. The equipment is intended to help residents of the Ukrainian capital survive the winter and cope with the consequences of damage to energy infrastructure.
As Natalia Panchenko, President of the Foundation, explains, the initial plan was to purchase small generators for individual families. However, the overwhelming response from Polish society — far exceeding all expectations — changed the nature of the project.
“We realized that we wanted to purchase large generators. A single unit like this can power an entire school, kindergarten, hospital, or apartment building. We are very happy — we are already on the road, and we hope that the people of Kyiv will receive our Polish warmth as soon as possible,”
Panchenko told Radio Poznań.
The generators will be delivered to Kyiv’s crisis response center and distributed from there to the most critical facilities. “Speed of delivery was the key factor, which is why the transport was organized at an express pace. It departed earlier today from the premises of Fogo in Wilkowice near Leszno,” said Tomasz Błaszak, CEO of the company.
“In fact, we learned about this need only two days ago. By today, we had prepared several hundred of these units. I believe we rose to the challenge,”
Błaszak added.
The fundraiser account has already surpassed PLN 6 million. The Foundation has announced further shipments, including to other cities across Ukraine.
