The Warmth for Kyiv campaign, which has also engaged Polish entrepreneurs, is breaking records. On Friday, the first shipments of power generators will head to the Ukrainian capital. The fundraiser is also setting new milestones, having already collected PLN 6.5 million, with organizers hoping to exceed PLN 10 million.
“We are currently on the road to Wilkowice near Leszno as part of a small group of the initiative’s founders. Before noon, 130 generators will depart from there for Kyiv. We decided to place our trust in the Polish manufacturer FOGO, with whom we were able to negotiate very favorable purchasing terms,” wrote one of the campaign’s organizers, Bartosz Kramek, online.
He added that another transport of 100 units would depart around noon from near Bytom, with delivery handled by InPost. A third convoy will be organized from Cieszyn by Raben. The organizers are also purchasing 100 thermal blankets, 1,000 gas stoves, and 100 power stations, at a total cost of PLN 1.6 million.
The largest share of the funds will be allocated to the purchase of mobile substations, acquired in line with recommendations from the Ukrainian authorities. As a single unit costs between EUR 50,000 and 80,000, several million złoty from the fundraiser will be earmarked for this purpose.
The shipments will first be delivered to Kyiv. Lower-capacity generators will be distributed to Polish volunteers providing assistance across Ukraine.
Warmth for Kyiv: where to donate
The Open Dialogue Foundation, together with the Democracy Foundation, Euromaidan Warsaw, the Stand With Ukraine Foundation, Sestry.eu, and the Igor Tracz Foundation, are organizing the fundraiser to purchase power generators for Kyiv. The generators will be handed over to the Kyiv City Crisis Center, which is preparing a detailed list of needs, including hospitals.
Polish entrepreneurs have joined the initiative, including members of the informal Entrepreneurs Help network (Rafał Brzoska, Rafał Sonik, Wojciech Kostrzewa, Tomasz Misiak, Ryszard Chmura, Artur Kazienko, and others), Employers of Poland (Pracodawcy RP), and the Polish Business Roundtable Foundation.

Polish authorities also providing assistance
At the instruction of the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior and Administration, the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves has prepared 379 power generators and 18 heaters for Ukraine. The Ministry assures that the transfer of this equipment does not compromise the agency’s ability to ensure Poland’s security.
Under European assistance mechanisms, Poland is also coordinating the transfer of an additional 447 generators. The city of Warsaw has contributed a further 90 units.
The handover operation will take several days. Fire services will assist with transportation, involving several dozen trucks, with the first convoy departing on Friday.
Ukrainian energy infrastructure targeted by Russian attacks
Kyiv, along with other Ukrainian cities, has become a target of Russian attacks. In the harsh winter, with temperatures dropping to –17°C, Russian forces are targeting energy infrastructure, cutting civilians off from electricity and heat. Ukrainian authorities regard these strikes as acts of terrorism.
Currently, nearly 60% of Kyiv is without electricity, and thousands of homes lack access to heating. With temperatures reaching –17°C, this poses a direct threat to human life and health. City and national authorities are organizing special heating tents where people can warm up, eat a hot meal, or charge their phones.
