As part of the “Warmth from Poland for Kyiv” campaign, Polish women and men donated over one million zlotys within three days.
A fundraising campaign for generators for Kyiv is underway in Poland. It began a few days ago and has already set an extraordinary record: the initial goal was reached within just a few hours. Within three days, activists collected more than PLN 1.1 million (approximately USD 300,000).
This was reported on January 18 by the Polish outlet OKO.press.
Under the “Warmth from Poland for Kyiv” campaign, over one million zlotys were donated within three days. The funds will be used to purchase generators and deliver them to residents of the Ukrainian capital. The fundraiser was organized by the Stand With Ukraine Foundation together with several organizations and civic movements, including Euromaidan-Warsaw, the Democracy Foundation, Sestry.eu, the Open Dialogue Foundation, the Polish Business Council Foundation, and the Entrepreneurs Help initiative.
Initially, the organizers planned to purchase 100 generators. However, the planned amount was collected within just a few hours.
“The reaction of Poles exceeded our expectations. You have shown that you care about the fate of your neighbors,” the organizers wrote.
“Dear friends, your solidarity is incredible. We are increasing the goal to 2 million zlotys,” they appealed.
“Thanks to your contributions, we can do much more than we originally planned. This money means real warmth for people in Ukraine. We will reach those who are freezing in dark homes and hospitals without electricity. We will buy more generators, sleeping bags, and fuel.”
Moving comments appeared under the fundraiser’s description. Here are a few of them:
“We, Poles, stand with you in this difficult time of trial. You will win!”
“Severe frost is a dangerous situation, and other arguments do not matter now.”
“I wish you warmth and bright days.”
“Thank you for bravely and steadfastly defending Europe from the Soviet monster.”
“May you be warm!”
“Dear Ukrainians, I wish you much warmth and the longed-for, just peace. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you. AK.”
It is worth recalling that the capital is accelerating the restoration of critical infrastructure by mobilizing additional resources from the regions. A key decision to speed up repairs was the involvement of specialists from other regions and state-owned enterprises. Coordination of efforts will reduce waiting times from days to just a few hours.
Kyiv’s energy and heating workers will be reinforced by Ukrzaliznytsia, which is sending at least 30 specialized teams to restore heating networks and provide expert support.
Another 20 heating crews are arriving in Kyiv from other parts of Ukraine.
