On 9 March, during the gala organized by the Sestry editorial team, Agnieszka Kalinowska-Sołtys, Chief Operating Officer, and Izabela Pieńkowska, Communications Manager, accepted a token of appreciation on behalf of Kamil Wyszkowski and UN Global Compact Network Poland for co-organizing the “Warmth for Kyiv” campaign.
As Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcin Bosacki emphasized during the event: “Brave Ukraine survived this exceptionally harsh winter, and I am proud that Poland was able to help. One example of this solidarity was the ‘Warmth from Poland for Kyiv’ campaign. It began with a single appeal. Then 77,000 Polish women and men joined in and raised more than 10 million zlotys. As a politician and as Deputy Head of Diplomacy, I will say that diplomatic, political, and even military achievements are of enormous importance, but social achievements are ultimately the most important. It is social matters that unite our two nations. And I sincerely want to thank you for this campaign, because it was — perhaps — the most important initiative between our nations over the past three years.”
This initiative is proof of the enormous solidarity of Polish society. Thanks to the collected funds, concrete forms of support have already reached Ukraine, helping people survive the winter and restoring at least some sense of security in everyday life:
🔹 744 power generators with a total capacity of 8.1 MW
🔹 918 cookers
🔹 300 power stations
The aid was delivered in 5 transports (15 trucks) thanks to the involvement of 6 carriers: InPost, Raben Group, DB Schenker, Poczta Polska S.A., Cordis Logistics, and Global Motion. The remaining funds have already been allocated for the purchase of mobile transformer substations for frontline regions, where the destruction of energy infrastructure is the greatest.
The campaign was organized jointly by civil society organizations, the business community, and institutional partners, including Euromaidan-Warszawa, the Democracy Foundation, the Sestry.eu editorial team, the Open Dialogue Foundation, the Polish Business Roundtable Foundation, and the Entrepreneurs Help initiative. The partners of the initiative also include UN Global Compact Network Poland and the Polish Red Cross.
During the gala, we also learned the names of the laureates of the third edition of the “Portraits of Sisterhood” award, presented by the Sestry.eu editorial team. The distinction is awarded to women whose activities build solidarity, support others, and promote human rights, democracy, and assistance to people affected by war.
The winner in the “Portraits of Sisterhood” category on the Ukrainian side was Andriana Susak — a soldier, co-founder, and leader of the women veterans’ movement VETERANKA. On the Polish side, the award went to Olga Solarz — an ethnologist and anthropologist who, since 2014, has put everything aside to support the Ukrainian army. The Audience Award was presented to Kateryna Polishchuk, known as Ptashka. She is a symbol of Mariupol’s resilience — a medic from Azovstal who saved the wounded despite being wounded herself. This year, for the first time, the jury decided to honor one of the nominated women with a special award — for exceptional mercy and many years of service to those in need, the award was presented to Sister Małgorzata Chmielewska.

We thank all individuals, organizations, and partners for their involvement in this initiative. Thanks to joint efforts, help truly reaches those who need it most.
