“A lie has short legs… Patryk Jaki’s! Another court victory against politicians of the previous government: this time Patryk Jaki has been ordered to publicly apologise for calling us ‘Russian agents’ and accusing us of ‘lobbying on behalf of Kremlin oligarchs’ in 2019,” the Open Dialogue Foundation wrote on X.
The Open Dialogue Foundation is an international non-governmental organisation dedicated to protecting human rights, democracy and the rule of law in the post-Soviet region and, since 2018, also within the European Union. It was founded in 2009 by Lyudmyla Kozlovska and is currently led by her together with her husband, Bartosz Kramek.
Patryk Jaki Is Not the First. Right-Wing Politicians Have Already Lost Cases Against the Foundation
“In the reasoning behind today’s first-instance judgment, the Regional Court in Warsaw pointed to the complete lack of evidence supporting the claims made by the leader of Sovereign Poland. As a politician, he should also have known that accusing a foundation established by a Ukrainian woman, which defends human rights in post-Soviet countries, of having ties to Russia is deeply harmful and unjust,” the Foundation wrote in its post on X.
It is worth noting that the Foundation has itself been placed on the Russian Federation’s list of “undesirable organisations.”
This is not the first defeat suffered by politicians associated with the United Right in court cases brought by the Open Dialogue Foundation. Previously, among others, Joachim Brudziński and Maciej Wąsik also lost their cases. Former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk likewise suggested that the Foundation had ties to Russia.
