On March 15th more than 500 active workers of “Let’s leave the housing to the people” and “For worthy housing” public organizations from different regions wanted to meet the presidential candidate for Nursultan Nazarbayev in Astana.
As citizens and voters, active workers of the public organizations wanted to discuss publicly Nursultan Nazarbayev’s electoral programme, to ask him questions about the lawfulness of the caption of the mortgage habitation from the insolvent citizens.
However, near the president’s residence the special policy group waited for active workers. The police detained about 200 participants of the action; a part of them was released after a while.
The heads of public organizations were brought to the administrative responsibility. The leader of “Let’s leave the housing to the people” Esenbek Ukteshbaev was charged with article 373 part 3 of the code about administrative offenses of Kazakhstan (unapproved meeting, procession) and sentenced to administrative arrest for a period of 15 days. He already started to serve sentence, though he had the right to appeal against the state’s sentence.
Earlier the active workers of “Let’s leave the housing to the people” public organization got the call from a man who introduced himself as the employee of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He said his name was “Nurlan”. He threatened the active workers saying that they would not return alive if they went to Astana. The calls arrived from the number +77777386086.
Active workers told that the calling person was very informed and knew the history of every active worker: how many people there were in his family, who and where they worked, who and where they studied. He threatened that they would lose their jobs if they worked in the government service.
