On 1st May Open Dialogue Foundation and European Exchange started the ProjectFostering civic society engagement and promoting democracy amongst Ukrainian youth. The project is funded by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
The project has, as its goal, the motivation of the Ukrainian youth to develop a keen interest in political processes and activities and to become engaged in civil societal matters in Ukraine through the promotion of democratic values and the sharing of knowledge as regards politics, the legal nature of a state and society.
The project lasts till the end of the year and includes study tours, seminars, workshops and conferences for pupils and students from 4 regions of Ukraine: Ivanofrankivsk, Odessa, Kharkiv, and Dnipro.
So far 30 school pupils from Ivanofrankivsk, Odessa, Dnipro and Kharkiv went to Brussels and Berlin to see how European institutions work and meet with politicians and social activists who cooperate with Ukraine and especially with youth.
They met with members of European Parliament and Bundestag, specialists from European Commission, representatives of Federal Foreign Office and Federal Chancellory, think tanks and ngoses. Participants asked a lot of very difficult and challenging questions mostly about Europeanperspective for Ukraine and what are the needed changes in the country. More details about the trips will be available soon at our website and the FB site of the project (in Ukrainian).

Currently we prepare for the study week in Berlin which will last from 5 till 9 September. Out of 100 candidates we selected 30 outstanding young students who will take part in a cycle of workshops and a conference in Berlin.
