Please be advised that any video recordings recently posted on the Internet allegedly involving Lyudmyla Kozlovska, associating her with Bill Browder (initiator of the Global Magnitsky Law campaign) and Mukhtar Ablyazov, (leader of the opposition movement “Democratic Choice of Kazakhstan”) are fake. We see them as another action, in a long sequence thereof, conducted against us upon an inspiration from the authorities / special services of Kazakhstan and/or Russia. We expect more attacks in relation to the intensification of our activities to defend political prisoners in Kazakhstan, adoption of so-called Magnitsky Law in more states and the infliction of sanctions based on it, against persons responsible for the violation of human rights in post-Soviet states.
On Friday, 15 June 2018, in Brussels, the police stopped two Ukrainian nationals, who claimed to be journalists of the Ukrainian program “Stop Corruption”. This was related to the following of Lyudmyla Kozlovska and Bota Jardemalie. Bota Jardemalie is the lawyer of Mukhtar Ablyazov and the sister of the Kazakh political prisoner Iskander Yerimbetov whom the Foundation is defending. Bota Jardemalie was granted political asylum in Belgium in 2014. Due to the activity of Kazakh services aimed against Bota Jardemalie, including an attempt to abduct her, she was also given police protection.
Accordingly, we are taking steps to provide adequate protection of personal rights, identify the sources/authors of these materials and hold them liable.
