In the Council of Europe headquarters, the Open Dialogue Foundation organized a debate devoted to the situation of the rule of law and civil society in Poland. The event was attended by Belgian parliamentarian Petra De Sutter who, after the debate, shared her thoughts and reflections on her website.
“I supported the debate organized by the Open Dialogue Foundation on January 23, 2018. Activists and lawyers spoke about how bad things sometimes happen: people are persecuted and beaten by the police when they peacefully fight for human rights and democracy. This is unacceptable“- De Sutter wrote on her website.
The parliamentarian stressed that the task of the Council of Europe is to continue to monitor the situation and bring to the world an alarming message: “The rights of many EU citizens are under pressure in Poland.”
