The recent political, reform agenda, human rights and media freedom situation in Moldova were debated today in the European Parliament in Brussels at a conference organised by Members Anna Fotyga, Ramona Nicole Mănescu, Renate Weber and Rebecca Harms in co-operation with the Open Dialogue Foundation.
In view of the Democratic Party’s recent proposal to change the Republic of Moldova’s electoral system, the European People’s Party (EPP) President, Joseph Daul, together with the President of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), Hans Van Baalen, made a joint statement.
Against the backdrop of growing public discontent with the current government, the political regime in Moldova is becoming tougher. Opposition activists and human rights activists increasingly frequently face politically motivated criminal prosecutions.
On Wednesday, 26 April, 2017, experts, politicians, NGOs and victims of abusive Red Notices gathered at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to assess current improvements and challenges of INTERPOL’s system and provide recommendations on reforms of INTERPOL.

Between 23 and 24 February, 2017, a representative of the Open Dialogue Foundation was present at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Winter Meeting 2017 in Vienna. The aim of the visit was to discuss the current human rights and political situation in the post-Soviet region.
