Jacek Szymanderski

An opposition activist during communist times. He collaborated with the Workers Defence Committee, since the 80s, he has also been associated with ‘Solidarity’. Repeatedly jailed for his activities, also during martial law when he was interned for one year. He was member of one of the sub-teams of the Round Table. Shortly after, he was elected as a Member of the Contract Sejm.

In the parliament, he was deputy chairman of the National Defence Commission. After the expiry of the term of office, until 1993, he was the head of the OBOP research facility (currently: TNS Poland), engaged in the study of public opinion. By education, a sociologist with a degree from Warsaw University. He has worked in institutes of Philosophy, Sociology and History of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
