Jan Szenk

With a regional focus on Europe and Eurasia, Jan is currently in his third year of undergraduate studies at American University’s School of International Service in Washington, D.C.

As part of the International Studies program, Jan has conducted research projects on democratic backsliding in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Chinese malign influence in Poland for the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw. Professionally, he has worked at the U.S. State Department as part of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs’ Strategic Communications unit, and has been active in political campaigns and communication strategy. He has also volunteered for the United Nations, and is part of organizations such as Amnesty International and the student government at his university.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time in nature, traveling, playing tennis, and cooking vegan food with family and friends.
