Katarzyna Szczypska
Graduate of parallel studies at the Warsaw School of Economics and the University of Warsaw and University College London in economics and political science. Recipient of the Frédéric Bastiat Fellowship awarded by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University (Washington, D.C.), which introduces students to policy-making in the spirit of Austrian economics.
She has been involved with the ODF team for years. A decade ago, Kasia started with us as an intern. Today she fulfils herself as a Chief Advocacy Officer, lobbying for human rights in international institutions. She specialises in how bitcoin fosters freedom, enabling human rights defenders around the world to function. She also focuses on issues of cross-border repression and how authoritarian regimes use Western legal orders to persecute their critics abroad.
Outside ODF, she has worked with the Civil Development Forum and the Washington think-tank Cato Institute. At heart, she is a libertarian and an activist for the spread of individual and economic freedom. She proudly serves as a co-organizer of Poland’s largest gathering of free-market enthusiasts, the Weekend of Capitalism, and the one-of-a-kind Bitcoin FilmFest.
Kasia also fulfils herself artistically – she sings in the band Autonomia. She loves music, dancing, mountains and travelling to the USA (especially Arizona and New York). She often lives out of a suitcase – outside Poland, she has spent some time in the USA, Brussels and London. In Warsaw, she is fond of Praga North and the atmosphere of its old tenements. As she points out – she lost her head for her four-legged companion Pushkin.
