How to strengthen the public trust in the Ukraine? This and many other questions were asked during the meeting of the European Parliament’s Subcommittee on Human Rights, which took place on 17 June, 2015 in Brussels, Belgium.

A lot of controversies have arisen in connection with the volunteer battalions which have been involved in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. To a great extent, this is due to Russian media propaganda which promulgates the notion that the battalion soldiers are, in fact, ‘fascists’.

The anti-terrorist operation zone (ATO) can practically be divided into two zones: the zone of active hostilities, and the zone of ‘villages near-the-frontline’ where Ukrainian troops are stationed, but where no direct hostilities are taking place.

For over a month – from 21 May to 30 June, the exhibition ‘I’ll go back, my brothers are there’, dedicated to the wounded soldiers fighting in the east of Ukraine, will be open to visitors at ‘Ukrainian World’. The opening of the exhibition was held on 21 May 2015 at 6.00 PM.

The 300th tank regiment is one of the most elite armoured units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Its ranks will soon be joined by Jewhenij Syniow who comes from Desna and who is now undergoing training. He will shortly be deployed to the front line.

Interviewed by Polish Radio, the spokesman for the Open Dialogue Foundation (ODF), Tomasz Czuwara assessed the military potential of the Ukrainian army emphasising how important it is for the West to provide Ukrainians with training and support.

On TVN24 Biznes i Świat’s “Otwarcie dnia” programme, the Chair of the Foundation’s Council, Bartosz Kramek, talked about the preparations now underway for a new offensive. An invasion may take place during the coming days and weeks, Kramek predicted.

Soldiers stationed on the front line received camouflage cloaks from the Open Dialogue Foundation. Although a ceasefire has been effective in the ATO zone for a month now, it is not being respected: Ukrainian positions are under fire from guns and mortars.

The Open Dialogue Foundation has supported the Foundation ‘Zaporozhye Hospital’ which has been assisting Zaporozhye hospitals and wounded soldiers from the ATO zone who are being treated there.

As part of the ‘the bulletproof’ action, we sent two packages from Kiev for soldiers conscripted to military service. The packages contained helmets, bulletproof vests, tactical goggles and other items, necessary for the front line.
