Non-governmental organisations (including the Open Dialogue Foundation) and academics specialising in issues related to the rule of law and the protection of human rights, sent an open letter to the President of the European Commission, in which they call for immediate steps to stop the rapidly growing legal chaos in Poland, including prompt submission in the European Court of Justice, of an application for interim measures in Case C-791/19 Commission v Poland, pending before the Court of Justice. The Open Dialogue Foundation (ODF) received a letter from the office of Mr. Frans Timmermans, First Vice-President of the European Commission, providing responses and explanations regarding the two Polish MEPs’ questioning of the legitimacy of ODF’s registration on the Transparency Register

On 20 June, 2017, Council of the European Union, European Parliament and the European Commission, agreed on the €100 million macro-financial assistance to the Republic of Moldova, linking it with the strict conditions on fight against corruption and money laundering.

In the period between 4 July, 2016 and 8 July, 2016, the Open Dialogue Foundation and the ‘European Exchange’ organised the second phase of the study visit of Ukrainian students from Kharkov, Odessa and Dnieper to Brussels and Berlin.

On 1st May 2016, European Exchange and the Open Dialogue Foundation launched the project ‘Support for young people as a stimulus for the strengthening of democracy in Ukraine’.

On 4 August, 2016, the Kapshagai City Court of Almaty Province ordered the conditional release of opposition politician Vladimir Kozlov. The court decision will come into force in 15 days.

On 1st May Open Dialogue Foundation and European Exchange started the ProjectFostering civic society engagement and promoting democracy amongst Ukrainian youth. The project is funded by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.

From 29 February to 2 March, a high-level EU-Ukraine conference took place in the European Parliament, seeing a sizeable Ukrainian delegation of around 70 people attending. Over 40 members of the Verkhovna Rada, as well as secretariat staff arrived to Brussels for the Ukraine Week.

Ivan Štefanec, Member of the European Parliament, has sent a written question to the European Commission and the European External Action Service to ask them how they monitor the process of implementation by the EU Member States of sanctions against Russia.
