Between Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 July, 2017, the Open Dialogue Foundation met in Rome with representatives of NGOs and members of the Italian Senate and Chamber of Deputies. The 2-days visit was an opportunity to discuss individual cases of victims of abusive Red Notices.

In a recent interview conducted by Domenico Letizia for Cronache di Napoli, an Italian newspaper, Anna Koj, head of the Open Dialog’s EU Office, spoke about the Foundation’s work in promoting democracy and the rule of law in the post-Soviet states.

Representatives of the Foundation follow and attend the most important sessions and meetings of the international organizations and institutions in Brussels, Strasbourg, Vienna and Geneva.

Italian Senator Luigi Compagna filed a written inquiry with the Italian government, regarding political prisoners in Kazakhstan, in particular, the situation of Zinaida Mukhortova.

Alfredo Arpaia, the head of the Italian league for Human Rights (LIDU, Lega Italiana dei Diritti Dell’Uomo) and a member of the International Organisation for Human Rights (FIDH) has addressed Italian authorities with regard to the case of Nadiya Savchenko.

Italian Senator, Manuela Serra, addressed the Ukrainian authorities in an official letter with regard to the Kazakh dissident, Mukhtar Ablyazov, who is facing extradition from France to Russia or Ukraine.

On 15 July 2014, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Parliament will hold a hearing on the situation in Ukraine. The Open Dialogue Foundation was invited to participate in the meeting, along with two other guests to provide the expertise and for an informal exchange of views with the Italian.
