On 08.08.2012, a sentence in the case of opposition leaders has been handed down.Vladimir Kozlov was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months imprisonment with confiscation of property. Akzhanat Aminov and Serik Sapargali were sentenced to 5 and 4 years’ probation, respectively

BRUSSELS, 20th of September, 2012 – Social society activists from Kazakhstan, following the example of the so-called ‘Magnitsky List’, drew up their own list of officials and named it the ‘Zhanaozen List’

After the bloody protests in Zhanaozen, the Kazakh authorities put the oppositionists before the court, accusing them of causing the unrest in the country. The activists may be incarcerated for more over ten years.
