This year’s meeting, on June 10-11th, was hosted virtually by the government of Serbia, with support from the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Belgium. It was simultaneously interpreted into French and Serbian.

On June 22-23th, our Maksym Sytnikov addressed the issue of violations of freedom of expression and media in Kazakhstan, calling the OSCE bodies to respond to cases of censorship. The intervention took place during the second Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting (SHDM).

On the occasion of snap Presidential election in Kazakhstan announced for June 9, the Open Dialogue Foundation (ODF) has listed a set of recommendations on the human rights record in Kazakhstan for the EU, OSCE PA and foreign missions on the ground.

On 28 May 2019, Michael Weiss published an article in Daily Beast “about the way far-right populists in Europe (…) suck up to Russia.” Weiss focused on the use of the Fourth Estate – the media – that has become a tool in populists’ hands making it “a one-party propaganda sheet.”

ODF, FIDU and KHISR present this Submission with recommendations within the framework of the consideration of the UPR of Kazakhstan. Over more than nine years, ODF has presented expert opinion on human rights in Kazakhstan, obtaining information from first hand and in-country experience.

The recent political, reform agenda, human rights and media freedom situation in Moldova were debated today in the European Parliament in Brussels at a conference organised by Members Anna Fotyga, Ramona Nicole Mănescu, Renate Weber and Rebecca Harms in co-operation with the Open Dialogue Foundation.

On Tuesday, 8 November, 2016, the European premiere of the first interactive museum of Chernobyl took place within the “Eastern Partnerhsip Days”, an initiative of the East Poland House in Brussels. The event was organized by the Open Dialogue Foundation and The Farm 51.

In a recent interview conducted by Domenico Letizia for Cronache di Napoli, an Italian newspaper, Anna Koj, head of the Open Dialog’s EU Office, spoke about the Foundation’s work in promoting democracy and the rule of law in the post-Soviet states.

Representatives of the Foundation follow and attend the most important sessions and meetings of the international organizations and institutions in Brussels, Strasbourg, Vienna and Geneva.

On 4 August, 2016, the Kapshagai City Court of Almaty Province ordered the conditional release of opposition politician Vladimir Kozlov. The court decision will come into force in 15 days.

Geneva 23 June 2016 – On 22 and 23 June 2016 the UNHRC – the body that monitors the implementation of the rights enshrined in the ICCPR – reviewed for the second time since Kazakhstan is a party to the ICCPR the status of civil and political rights in the country.

In April 2015, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights initiated consultations on the development of recommendations, aimed at creating of a favourable environment for civil society’s activities.
