When Russia invaded Ukraine, Iwona and Agata immediately started helping out at one of Warsaw’s train stations. Later they became volunteers at the Ptak Warsaw Expo hall. All the time, however, they felt that they wanted to do something more. That’s why they decided to support women who had abandoned their former lives across the […]

A moving spot by the Open Dialogue Foundation. Ukrainians still need our help

10.05.2022

In the face of the war in Ukraine, many Poles have opened their hearts and actively supported both Ukrainians in their homeland and those who, out of grave necessity, have left their homes. However, help is still desperately needed, as the latest social announcement created by the Open Dialogue Foundation reminds us emphatically. Two and […]

“We neither organised nor inspired yesterday’s action. 10.05.2022

Dousing the Russian Ambassador Sergey Andreev with fake blood not only led to a diplomatic scandal, but also caused an avalanche of accusations. The nationalists and the PiS party MP Radosław Fogiel alleged that the Open Dialogue Foundation was behind the stunt, while ODF’s Chair of the Board replied that this claim is “ridiculous and […]

Statement on the incident involving the Russian Ambassador in Poland

Statement on the incident involving the Russian Ambassador in Poland

10.05.2022

1. Yesterday’s events exposed the true face of Sergey Andreyev, his master in the Kremlin and modern Russia. The ambassador’s bloodied, smiling face is the most vivid illustration of the nature of Putin’s regime. 2. Poles did not commit this act, it was Ukrainian blood and emotions, which are totally justified. We did not organise […]

The collection “Donbas Battalion needs support”, co-created by Karolina Baca-Pogorzelska, a journalist of “Wprost”, has exceeded the amount of PLN 60,000. The initial goal was to collect PLN 50,000, but the whip-round hasn’t finished yet. “We’re not done yet, because the needs are great,” Baca-Pogorzelska tells Press.pl. The “Wprost” journalist set up the collection with […]

Many times I had to wait for them to clear the road of mines. The boys carried the mines and put them to the side of the road. I was scared to death. “Don’t worry. It takes 250 kg for them to explode,” they reassured me.  No one close to me has had an accident […]

Manipulative attacks against ODF’s humanitarian aid to Ukraine: case of I. Kotelianets

25.04.2022

Since February 25th the Open Dialogue Foundation has been on the forefront of both supporting the Ukrainian refugees fleeing to Poland, as well as – more uniquely – delivering humanitarian aid to those on the frontlines, specifically military-grade protective gear like bulletproof & anti-fragmentation vests or ballistic helmets, as well as other equipment like night-vision goggles, radio stations, drones or tactical accessories. Within the first 6 weeks we have provided some 20 thousand pieces of such equipment, including over 4500 bulletproof vests, all thanks to the generosity of our donors, who have given over 11 million zlotys to our cause (incl. PLN 3 million via our dedicated fundraiser at zrzutka.pl/PomocUkrainie). As documented recently by Onet.pl’s war correspondent Marcin Wyrwał, we are likely the only non-profit focused on this type of aid

I know of five cases where our vests saved someone’s life. We receive such information and words of gratitude. This gives us strength. But we also feel the responsibility. — Assembling a bulletproof vest is not difficult. I put two steel plates into the fabric cover — a straight one for the back, and a […]
