Despite three rounds of sanctions, the crisis in eastern Ukraine has not been staved off, and now it is Ukraine which intends to impose sanctions on Russia – Press TV reports.

The Italian daily Corriere della Sera has commented on the counter-sanctions imposed by Russia on the EU, USA, Canada, Norway and Australia.

On 11 May, 2014, the Verkhovna Rada approved in principle the draft Law of Ukraine “On Sanctions” elaborated by the government. The purpose of the draft law is to protect national interests, national security, sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
