In 2012, the Foundation’s activities were focused mainly on the situation in Kazakhstan, in connection with a significant deterioration in the functioning of independent media, opposition parties and non-governmental organisations in the country. In addition, the Foundation engaged in projects concerning Russia and Belarus. An important aspect of the activities was the initiation and development of cooperation between the broadly defined civil societies of the CIS countries and both European and international political institutions.
